Food Manager and Food Handler Programs

Certification is required in Florida for not only food handlers and food service workers, but also for anyone who manages a business in which food is served. Division of Hotels and Restaurants Florida Statute 509.039 requires certification of all food service managers who are responsible for the storage, preparation, display, or serving foods to the public, and Division of Food Safety Section 5k-4.021, Florida Administrative Code, requires that all food establishments - including food trucks and other mobile vendors – have a certified manager on duty at all times.
